You Built It, You Bought It.

May 22, 2011

You’ve got a sweet tooth, you bought your favourite morsel from the corner store and carried it home. It’s got dried pineapple from South America, macadamias from Madagascar and ted nugent from Michigan…. If we ignore your own physical exertion, what’s your carbon footprint?… Zero! All you did was eat it! In no way did you force someone to refine oil into that wrapper, grow sugarcane or burn gallons of fuel shipping across oceans.

Happiness From the Back of a Truck

March 30, 2011

Truck with creepy chimes drives into town plastered with corporate logos. Is there a driver, is it remote control? . . .Push the button on the back and receive your ration of poisoned sugar water. Naturally we crowd around to get ours, but you’ve got to be fast, the truck is only so big and there are only so many teats. Welcome to the future of food supply. . . .Hungrier the town is the less the truck slows down (for safety)- and if you’re on really hard times there are helicopters and nothing.

This video really made me laugh. Thanks!
This is fucked up.

Happy Valentines!

February 14, 2011

Wow figured I’d give a little Valentine history to accompany the song i recorded for this day, but shit, there isn’t really anything interesting to say. There were 2 maybe 3 Saint Valentines, none of which had anything to do with romantic love. Folklore states that there was a law passed by the Roman Emperor (doesn’t matter which one since this is fake anyways) to grow the army by outlawing marriage for young men, Valentine performed the marriages anyways. Then he supposedly fell in love with the Jailers daughter, cured her blindness and before death sent her a card with the message “from your Valentine”. All myth of course.

Today we celebrate the holiday with artificial chemicals that taste like chocolate, thousands of tons of discarded sappy pink card stock and roughly $15 Billion dollars spent. A fitting homage to the above mentioned need for a holiday.

Ok, griping aside. I made this for my special someone and spent nothing, . . .but you can listen too!

Summer Update 2010!

May 14, 2010

Hey everyone, just a post to let you all know about the wonderful things happening in the Remi Stevens media empire this summer. As the flow of content has slowed to a trickle, I felt we needed some explanation. Boney the Steve is alive and well, our brain chips are functioning properly and most of our studio/production spaces have been reasonably fire free for quite some time.

Saving the World

February 19, 2010

Your best option, make buttons. Most of the world’s problems can be solved through arts and crafts. Making fun from crap can save the world, singing a song can feed a starving family for weeks, wearing the ribbon immediately qualifies you as a doctor working hard to find the hue. (more…)

Fixing Prices and Everything Else

February 11, 2010

Planned obsolescence as an industry standard is price fixing. Its the legal, hidden equivalent to retailers jacking their prices in unison. Purchases: remember its not just the price, but how much you’re getting. Take something like dish soap. The water and container aren’t of any use to you, so lets assume when you buy a container of dish soap you are really just after a quantity of soap ingredients. (more…)
